Rukun Tetangga Gasing Indah in the quest to bring health education as part of a ongoing learning program for the neighborhood collaborated with EntoGenex Industries and the Tunku Naquiyuddin Foundation (YTN) to empower the public on the Dengue menace. This was also in conjunction with the official launching of “DENGUE DAY” in Jarkarta by the Asean Health Ministers on June 15, 2011 as the designated inaugural Asean Dengue Day.
Rukun Tetangga Gasing Indah joined this “STOP DENGUE MISSION” which was recently launched by the Tunku Naquiyuddin Foundation and EntoGenex aimed at empowering the community, educating school children and engaging corporate citizen by providing information and tools in combating dengue.
YM Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar, Chairman of Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin said, “that his reason for choosing Gasing Indah is because this is a award winning neighborhood and therefore, this is also the same spirit of excellence similar to YTN Dengue Mission’s commitment globally”.
The event was officiated by YB Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Selangor Exco Council member. In his opening speech, Dr Xavier told the participants that, “Neighborhoods should not depend solely on the government’s efforts to eradicate dengue, but rather to emulate and follow the fine example of Rukun Tetangga Gasing Indah in their proactive action to help themselves”.
A information booth were set up by the Town Council Health Department (MBPJ) for the public through the support of the Ministry of Health Department (MOH). EntoGenex too showcase their range of mosquito and insect control products based on the latest effective environmentally friendly green technology which will be launched in all the pharmacies nationwide in August this year.

RT Gasing Indah Chairman, Lfred Chuah also presented Tokens of Appreciation to all VIP guests and strongly urged, “all responsible residents need to spend some time to clean up their compound and surroundings for breeding sites to keep these Aedes mosquitoes at bay”.
The event also included Prize giving to winners of Poster Drawing and Essay Writing competition by SMK (P) Tmn. Petaling School students. While, fun games were joined by students from Chen Moh Chinese school and families as well. During the course of the event, SRS Volunteer Patrol members together with the residents took part in a Gotong-Royong in the cleaning-up of the neighborhood as well.
The SMK (P) Taman Petaling 42-member School Band added to the festivity of the dengue program by mesmerizing the VIP guests and the participants with their musical talents. The event ended happily at noon with residents and students returning with prizes, goodies from EntoGenex. All participants and visitors were also treated to breakfast and a great lunch catered by Pappa Rich Restraurant.
This project was leaded by the deputy RT Chairman Eric Chew said, ”we are thankful to YTN and proud to be the first community to participate in this STOP DENGUE MISSION in Malaysia and hope to see this continuous effort being undertaken by our residents and many other communities throughout this country in making a Dengue Free Nation”.
